15 Below Zero

Thanks to MLK for everything he did and for the day off.

Four of us managed to head up to Granite Peak for two days of sub zero skiing. I have to say, theis is by far the best place to ski within reasonable driving distance of Chicago. Perhaps the best perk was that we were the only people there Sunday night. Granite Peak definitely lost money on keeping the whole mountain open just for us. Too cold for most people, and too late for kiddies--perfect for us.

I did learn the hard way that it's not a good idea to ski directly into the oncoming blast of a snow machine. I imagined myself speeding out of a cloud with a poof like something I'd seen on TV, but I realized the problem when I still couldn't see anything after when I thought I was supposed to have been out of the blast range. Yeah, frozen goggles = zero visibility. Other than that, no injuries, no wipeouts, no clipped little kids. Did see a 58mm Tiffen UV/Protector on my 20D SHATTER due to temperature gradient.

Speaking of cold and skiing, this guy from Breckenridge has a hell of a toothache brought to my attention by Davis. Check out this his ceph!

Oh, yeah. Saw some tanks, too.
